The file

The Peekaboo arrived as the anti-logo statement from the house with the most famous logo in Italy: a structured frame bag whose gap deliberately shows off its lining, quiet luxury a decade before the phrase. It became the house flagship and the site records its birthday as a dispute, because the sources split cleanly: the design is documented as launching in 2008, and equally documented as debuting for Spring/Summer 2009. Shown one year, sold the next is the likely resolution, and the file keeps both dates rather than flattening them.

As a two-decade continuous flagship it now has eras of its own, sizes, the X-Lite generation, Selleria hand-stitched editions, and its long life makes it the Fendi where era markings do the most work: early Peekaboos wear holograms, everything after 2010 the RFID pouch, and the changeover maps neatly onto the model's own middle age.

FROM THE FILE

A flagship with a long memory: date it, then match the edition. Selleria stitching, lining, and size generation should all agree with the era the markings claim, and a twist-lock that turns loosely is the wear point that separates carried bags from stored ones.

Before you bid: the checklist

  • Both locks, both sides. The twin twist-locks should operate with identical, firm action; mismatched tension usually means repair or replacement.
  • The lining is half the bag. The interior is designed to be seen; faded, swapped, or crooked linings cost real money on a bag built around showing them.
  • Marking matches the middle age. Hologram means early production, RFID means 2010 onward; an edition that postdates 2010 wearing a hologram is wearing someone else's.

Authentication doctrine

CODE ≠ AUTHENTIC
READ BEFORE BIDDING

Fendi does not encode dates, but it brackets them: bags before 1980 carry no serial, the serial era runs 15 to 17 characters on leather with the first six naming the model and none of it naming a year, the hologram sticker era runs 2004 to 2010, and the sewn RFID pouch takes over from 2010, with 2015 the one changeover year where both markings can legitimately coexist. A hologram and an RFID pouch together in any other year is the classic fake tell, a pouch with no chip inside is another, and the era the markings claim must agree with the model's own documented birthday, which is what the serial era guide on this site checks in one step.
